Working on your facilitation skills as a service designer is essential for several reasons. Effective facilitation fosters collaboration, ensuring all voices are heard and ideas are co-created. It helps tackle complex problems with multidisciplinary approaches and keeps the focus on the things that matter!
We invite you to join us on "Facilitating Creative Sessions" on September 17 - October 22, 2024 with SDN-accredited Master Julia Alberga. This course, designed for designers and professionals, combines theory, practical exercises, and feedback to improve facilitation techniques and soft skills.
Why Facilitation for Service Design Matters
1. Effective Communication: Facilitators are skilled communicators who can articulate ideas clearly and help others do the same. This is important in service design, where explaining concepts, processes, and solutions to non-designers is often necessary.
2. Improves Problem-Solving: Service design often involves tackling complex issues. Good facilitation helps guide discussions, manage group dynamics, and keep the team focused on finding effective solutions.
3. Managing Change: Service design frequently introduces new processes, tools, or cultural changes within organizations. Facilitation skills are key to managing resistance, engaging participants, and ensuring smooth transitions.
4. Innovation and Creativity: Effective facilitation creates an environment that encourages creativity and innovation. By using various facilitation techniques, service designers can help teams think outside the box, generating innovative solutions.
5. Empowers Leadership: As a facilitator, you take on a leadership role, guiding groups, inspiring participation, and influencing decision-making processes.
